A group of teens allegedly stormed a NSW home and stabbed an elderly woman and a middle-aged man inside the house during the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Six teenagers allegedly broke into the home on Coane St in the Newcastle suburb of Merewether about 3am on Tuesday.
They were confronted by the residents, a 49-year-old man and a 75-year-old woman.

During an ensuing argument, both residents were allegedly stabbed before the group fled the scene.
The man was transported to John Hunter Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
The woman suffered minor injuries, and was also taken to hospital.
A crime scene was quickly established, and five teenagers were arrested nearby.
A 15-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy were charged with special aggravated break and enter and committing a serious indictable offence.
A 13-year-old boy was charged with special aggravated break and enter and committing a serious indictable offence, and breach of bail.
A 15-year-old girl was charged with breach of bail.
All four were refused bail to appear before a Children’s Court on Wednesday.
A 14-year-old girl was charged with goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen.
She was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear before a Children’s Court on October 9.
A sixth teenager, a 14-year-old boy, was later arrested at a home in Raymond Terrace about 11.40am on Tuesday.
He has been charged with special aggravated break and enter and committing a serious indictable offence (wound), attempted murder, and reckless wounding in company.
He was refused bail and is set to appear before a Children’s Court on Wednesday.
