Two men were killed and another man wounded in a pair of shootings Saturday afternoon and early Sunday in different areas of Oakland, authorities said.
Neither man’s name has been released pending notification of their family.
The shootings are not related, police said.
About 12:06 a.m. Sunday a 50-year-old man was found fatally shot in the 400 block of 28th Street near Telegraph Avenue in the Pill Hill neighborhood, authorities said.
The man, who lived in the area, was found outside by officers responding to a gunshot detection system alert. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A motive for the killing has not been determined yet. No arrests have been made.
The other shooting that left a 33-year-old Oakland man dead and a 62-year-old man wounded happened about 4:15 p.m. Saturday outside in the 7100 block of International Boulevard.
At least one person began shooting toward the men before fleeing, authorities said.
The 33-year-old man died at the scene. The other man suffered a wound to his ankle and was in stable condition.
Police believe the man killed was the intended target and that the other man was hit by a stray bullet.
It was not immediately known if the two men knew each other.
A motive for the shooting has not yet been released. No arrests have been made.
With the two killings, Oakland police have now investigated 124 homicides in the city this year. Last year at this time police had investigated 119 homicides in the city.
