Two teenagers killed in crash in Sydney’s west identified as Addison Bhimjiani and Matthew Simpson

Two young tradies killed in a horrific crash while heading home from the gym in Sydney’s west have been identified.

Addison Bhimjiani and Matthew Simpson, aged 17 and 16, died after the Nissan 200SX they were passengers in crashed into a telegraph pole on a rain-swept Windsor Rd at McGraths Hill about 9.40pm on Monday.

Police believe the alleged driver of the Nissan, a 17-year-old P-plater, attempted to overtake a Ford Falcon sedan occupied by three other teenagers when the Nissan lost control on the wet road, 7NEWS understands.

The Nissan slammed into a power pole, and Bhimjiani and Simpson sustained critical injuries.

Paramedics worked on Bhimjiani and Simpson, but they could not be revived and died at the scene.

Nolan sustained chest and internal injuries and was taken to Westmead Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Police are investigating whether the two groups of teenagers in the two cars were known to each other.

Grief-stricken family and friends have laid flowers at the crash scene to pay tribute to Bhimjiani, an electrician, and Simpson, a carpenter, who had both recently started their trade jobs.

“It’s just heartbreaking. I saw him that day, and now I’ll never see him again,” one of the victim’s friends told 7NEWS said.

“They were good boys … I used to hang out with them all the time, and it’s really unfortunate what’s happened to them,” another friend said.

Another friend described one of the boys as a “nice kid” who was “always smiling”.

“He was one of the happiest kids I ever hung around I think,” he told 7NEWS.

Investigations are ongoing.
