Ultimate Golden Eagle Day preview: How to find a winner on Saturday

The $10million Golden Eagle is the richest race in Australia this weekend and here is the 7Plus Racing Watchlist for Golden Eagle Day at Rosehill and Derby Day at Flemington.

TRACKWALKER INFO FOR ROSEHILL, NOVEMBER 4

Lanes 1 and 2 are slightly inferior and we are forecasting horses that can settle just away from the leaders in those next two to three pairs back will be advantaged. The Sweet Spot is lanes 3 to 8

WHO’S HOT AT ROSEHILL?

Joe Pride is the most profitable trainer to follow at Rosehill over the past 12 months. During the time, if you had $100 on each of his runners, you’d be up around $3600

Race 8 No.5 KOVALICA & No.7 OSIPENKO

Chris Waller is a ‘grand final’ trainer and his stock thrive in big races on their home track. Kovalica has been desperate for a race with pace in it all prep, while Osipenko hasn’t looked comfortable in Melbourne but saves his best ratings for Rosehill. Both runners get blinkers on and we feel they’ll be charging to the line late

Race 7 No.4 PRIVATE EYE

His stablemate Think About It is the odds-on favourite but Private Eye had no luck in The Everest when you look at the sectionals. We can see him turning the tables here

Race 6 No.14 SMARTAWI

We backed him first-up at $81 and watched his odds tumble all the way into $16 thinking. But, as racing does so often, we got stiffed by a torrid run in transit. He never saw daylight and should’ve finished much closer. Let’s stick with him here at $26

Meanwhile, its Derby Day at Flemington and Waller has the favourite Riff Rocket.

Who’s hot at Flemington?

Over the past year James Cummings has struck at 20 per cent and has returned a healthy profit of $3600 if you’d placed $100 on every one of his runners

TRACKWALKER INFO FOR FLEMINGTON NOVEMBER 4

“Pretty even across with a small advantage to be slightly away from hard-up against the inside fence. In straight traces we are expecting off fence to be the place”

FLEMINGTON WATCHLIST

Race 7 No.3 AIR ASSAULT

We love Riff Rocket but the concern is he is coming out of a slowly run race and might not be ready for a tough 2500m of a Derby. Whereas Air Assault is on the seven-day back-up from the Moonee Valley Vase. He looks the likely leader and might give them something to catch

Race 4 No.7 SPACEWALK

No luck last start when the race shape worked horribly against him. Our review article suggested to follow him at Flemington where horses possessing a sharp turn of foot get a better chance. Might not be far off them in the run and watch for him to explode around the 300m mark

Race 5 No.1 ZARDOZI

Figure out of the Edward Manifold suggest this filly is well above average. She could win this and then the Oaks next week.

FUTURES BET – MELBOURNE CUP – LADIES MAN $101/$26

He may have to win The Archer Stakes at Flemington on Saturday to get into the Melbourne Cup but if he does he will drop from 59kg to 50kg in the Cup and will be a last start Flemington winner. Good luck getting $101 then!
