Tension gripped the Jogi Nawada area of Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, when stones were pelted at a kanwariya procession as it passed by a mosque. According to police, a dispute occurred near the Shahnoori mosque, resulting in stones being thrown by individuals from both sides. While around a dozen kanwariyas suffered minor injuries, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Prabhakar Chaudhary, stated that there were no reports of injuries. Police have examined CCTV footage to identify those involved and will take strict action against them. The kanwariyas, who were on their way to Budaun to collect water from the Ganga River, briefly protested and demanded action against their attackers. Additional police have been deployed in the area, and an impartial investigation will be conducted to punish the guilty. The kanwariyas have resumed their journey to Budaun under the assurance of safety.
