In a statement, Vijayanand Travels highlighted that this order of 550 buses reflects the company’s strong expansion plans to become a national operator in India.
“Vijayanand Travels has made the largest order in India for 550 intercity buses from Volvo and Eicher, with an approximate value of Rs 500 crore. This includes 500 units of Eicher Intercity 13.5m AC and non-AC sleeper coaches, as well as 50 Volvo 9600 luxury sleeper coaches,” the statement read.
Currently, Vijayanand Travels operates in six states, including Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, and Goa.
Shiva Sankeshwar, Managing Director at Vijayanand Travels, stated, “We are currently at a very important stage of our growth journey. Building on our rich legacy, we aim to establish a pan-India presence in terms of fleet size, geographical reach, and intercity connectivity.”
Vinod Aggarwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at VECV, expressed that they have received a follow-up order from Vijayanand Travels. The manufacturing of these buses takes place at VECV’s facilities in Hoskote, Karnataka, and Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh.
