The year 2024 has begun on a good note, Merry Christmas starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupati has taken a decent start at the box office earning about Rs 2.5 crore, given that it is not a wide release. It is in tune with director Sriram Raghavan’s last release Andhadhuan, which had made about Rs 2.7 crore and solely on word of mouth picked up in the following days.
In an interview with Brut India, Vijay Sethupati, who was last seen in Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, opened up about his casting opposite Katrina Kaif in ‘Merry Christmas’. He revealed that he was shocked as to how they would look on the big screen. He narrated that when he would tell people that he was doing a Sriram Raghavan film, everyone would be very happy and say superb, but the moment he mentioned that it was opposite Katrina Kaif, people would ask him if it is a ‘guest role’ or if it is a heroine centric film’.”
He highlighted that everyone knows Katrina Kaif and he had doubts over their pairing. But as it is said all’s well that ends well, most reviews of the film have praised their fresh jodi and performance in the thriller.
