Virtual Event for UN World Oceans Day 2023: A Celebration of Our Seas

Now that the 10th annual UN World Oceans Day Photo Competition has closed—and the judging panel is hard at work poring over the entries to select the winners—UN World Oceans Day host UN Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea (DOALOS) and non-profit partner Oceanic Global are busy with final preparations for the event marking UN World Oceans Day on June 8th. UN WOD is supported by watchmaker Panerai.

You are invited to join the proceedings virtually, as the UN celebrates the 2023 theme, Planet Ocean, to reshape how we view the Earth and generate a new wave of excitement towards protecting the ocean and the entirety of our blue planet. The program will feature decision makers, international civil servants, indigenous communities, scientists, private sector executives, celebrities and youth activists.

The event will of course include the announcement of the winners of the photo competition as presented by contest curator Ellen Cuylaerts. The winning images will be featured on the UN World Oceans Day website as well as DPG’s mini-site dedicated to the photo competition.

Register for the virtual event from 10am–1:30am EDT on Thursday, June 8th at UNWorldOceansDay.org and add the event to your calendar!
