The Information & Broadcasting Ministry has stated that the government has zero tolerance for corruption and strictest action will be taken against anyone found involved. A senior officer from the Ministry has been deputed to Mumbai to conduct an enquiry in CBFC extortion case as alleged by South actor Vishal. But the Ministry is yet to reach out to Vishal who has exposed the corruption in the censor board.
Vishal, however, is happy with the reaction. Speaking to ETimes, he said, “Glad to see the tweet. A prompt action has been taken as expected. Definitely since it’s an issue called corruption which is a very bad disease, it has to be nipped in the bud. Looking forward to the results of immediate action taken.”
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had tweeted earlier today, “The issue of corruption in CBFC brought forth by actor @VishalKOfficial is extremely unfortunate. The Government has zero tolerance for corruption and strictest action will be taken against anyone found involved. A senior officer from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has been deputed to Mumbai to conduct an inquiry today itself. We request everyone to cooperate with the Ministry, by providing information about any other instance of harassment by CBFC at jsfilms.inb@nic.in”
Tamil actor Vishal earlier claimed that he paid a bribe of Rs 6.5 lakh to get a censor certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification before the release of the Hindi version of Mark Antony. He also said he has all the proof to back his claims.
Mark Antony released on September 15 to a good response and the Hindi version released in theatres on September 28.
