Vivek Agnihotri received an overwhelming response for his film, ‘The Kashmir Files‘, which went on to win a National Award. Following this, the director came up with ‘The Vaccine War‘ which was about the development of Covaxin during the COVID-19 pandemic in India, shedding light on the efforts of scientists involved in its creation. However, the film received mild reception as compared to his previous film.
When asked if he was disappointed when ‘Vaccine War’ did not receive the same reception as ‘The Kashmir Files’, Agnihotri told ETimes, “I mean, expecting the same performance from a film designed for a different market and target audience is unfair. When we made ‘Vaccine War,’ we were clear it was more suited for OTT platforms. We made it with that in mind. However, as the market evolved, we realized for awards or national recognition, a theatrical release was necessary. This led to a small theatrical release, although primarily intended for OTT. Regarding revenue, I am pleased with what ‘The Vaccine War’ contributed to my body of work. Alongside films like ‘Buddha In A Traffic Jam,’ ‘The Tashkent Files,’ and ‘The Kashmir Files,’ ‘The Vaccine War’ is respected. Embassies worldwide often showcase it.”

Meanwhile, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri announced his upcoming project, ‘Parva.’ Based on SL Bhyrappa‘s book of the same name, the film will be a sprawling three-part franchise. Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s ‘Parva‘ draws inspiration from SL Bhyrappa’s Kannada novel of the same name. This adaptation of the Sanskrit epic Mahabharata offers a unique perspective, narrating the tale through the introspections of its main characters. Widely hailed as a modern classic, Bhyrappa’s novel has received praise and acclaim for its innovative approach to storytelling.
