While the German car manufacturer is yet to confirm the changes that will be made to the upcoming Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition, we expect it be equipped with visual enhancements like blacked-out alloy wheels, roof bars, ‘Trail’ badges on the outside as well as inside, new seat upholstery and so on. No mechanical changes are expected to be made to the Taigun whatsoever.

Powering the mid-size SUV are two turbo-petrol TSI engines – a 1.0-litre three-cylinder unit producing 113 hp of maximum power and 178 Nm of peak torque, as well as a 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit making 148 hp power and 250 Nm torque. Both engines are available with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. The smaller engine gets an optional 6-speed torque converter AT, while the larger motor is available with an optional 7-speed DSG.
Do note that the Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition will also be offered with the standard front-wheel drive configuration and not Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive. It is yet to be seen if Volkswagen will offer the special edition version with both manual and automatic options. We expect it to be based on the range-topping trim, and sit above the range which is currently priced between Rs 11.62 lakh and Rs 19.76 lakh (ex-showroom).
