NEW DELHI: As the Indian women’s team registered a historic win over England on Saturday, emotions ran wild in the dressing room as players celebrated the biggest ever win in women’s Test cricket history.
Led by all-round efforts of Deepti Sharma, India blew away Heather Knight and co. by 347 runs on their way to a first win over England at home in 15 Tests.
In a video posted by BCCI Women after the win, players and staff were seen smiling, hugging each other and celebrating as head coach Amol Muzumdar praised all for their performance.

Over the course of the three days, Harmanpreet Kaur and co. did not show any rust of not having played Test cricket in two years and on the contrary were at their ruthless best.
All-rounder Deepti turned out to be the star of the match as she single-handedly dismantled England, returning with a match figures of 9 for 39 and scored 87 runs with the bat.
After taking a 292-run first innings lead, in the second innings, captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodriguez, and Smriti Mandhana hit attacking knocks to help India set a massive target of 479.
Chasing an improbable total, England were reduced to 68 for 4 by the 15th over courtesy Pooja Vastrakar’s superb show with the new ball.
Deepti then took charge and along with Rajeshwari Gayakwad wrapped up the England second innings at 131. India’s margin of victory is now the biggest in terms of runs in women’s Tests.
Harmanpreet Kaur-led India team will now face off against Australia for a one-off Test at Wankhede from December 21.
