New Delhi: India and Canada have been going through rough diplomatic relations and the rift started when the Khalistani Separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar was killed and the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau openly blamed India for the murder; India had denied these allegations and had called them meaningless. In a latest update, further widening the rift, Canada has now arrested three Indians for their alleged involvement in the Hardeep Singh Nijjar Murder. The names and photos of all three Indians who have been arrested, has been released by the Canadian Police and an ‘active investigation’ is underway. Now, India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has reacted to the arrests and has also laid emphasis on a major concern that the country has with Canada. Here’s what the Foreign Minister said…

‘We Will Have To Wait For…’ S Jaishankar On Arrests In Hardeep Singh Nijjar Murder

As mentioned earlier, S Jaishankar, India’s Foreign Minister has reacted to Canada arresting three Indians in the Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s Murder Case. The Foreign Minister said that he had seen news of the arrests and said the suspects “apparently are Indians of some kind of gang background… we’ll have to wait for the police to tell us.”

Foreign Minister Highlights Major Concern With Canada

Apart from his reaction to the arrests, the Foreign Minister has also raised a major concern with respect to organised crime in Canada; he believed that Canada has allowed organised crime to work in Canada, from India. In his words, “But, as I said, one of our concerns which we have been telling them is that, you know, they have allowed organized crime from India, specifically from Punjab, to operate in Canada.”

India’s High Commissioner To Canada Hoping To Get Regular Updates

Sanjay Verma, India’s high commissioner to Canada, said that it hopes to get regular updates from Canadian authorities regarding the three arrested Indians. “I understand that the arrests have been made as a result of investigations conducted by the relevant Canadian law enforcement agencies. This issue is internal to Canada and therefore we have no comments to offer in this regard,” Mr Verma added.

Three Indians have been arrested by the Police; they all had been living as the non-permanent residents in Alberta for the last three to five years. The names and ages of those arrested are Karan Brar (22 years old), Kamalpreet Singh (22 years old) and Karanpreet Singh (28 years old). All three have been charged with first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Photos of the same have also been released by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
