Wendy’s Plans to Open 200 New Restaurants in Australia by 2034

American fast food giant Wendy’s has signed a deal to bring its famous square burgers to Australia across 200 stores.

Earlier this year, the company announced its intention to come to Australia as a “high priority” after positive reaction to a Wendy’s pop-up event in Sydney in 2021.

On Thursday, company president Abigail Pringle confirmed the franchise agreement had been signed with Flynn Restaurant Group to develop the 200 Wendy’s restaurants across Australia by 2034.

“Australia is a strategic market for long-term growth for Wendy’s. Flynn Restaurant Group has incredible experience in the restaurant space, and we are thrilled to expand our relationship with them,” Pringle said.

“They have a strong leadership team, great culture, vast industry knowledge, success with our brand in the US, and we are confident that Flynn Restaurant Group is the right partner to unlock growth for Wendy’s in Australia.”

Flynn’s Restaurant Group also operates restaurants for Applebee’s, Taco Bell, Panera, Arby’s and Pizza Hut in the US as franchises.

The first Wendy’s store was opened in 1969 and the chain is known for its square hamburgers, fries, baked potatoes and Frosty dessert.

Not to be confused with Wendy’s Milk Bar, the fast food chain’s logo is a little red-headed girl with pigtails.

Wendy’s has more than 7000 restaurants worldwide.
