Not even trace quantities were found of any drugs or alcohol,” he said in the post.
In a reply to a post talking about the report of Musk being on drugs he said that “while simultaneously leading Tesla to be the world’s most valuable car company (Model Y is the selling vehicle on Earth) and SpaceX to be the world’s most valuable space company (~80% of all payload to orbit last year). Whatever I’m doing, I should obviously keep doing it!”
In another tongue-in-cheek post, Musk said that “If drugs actually helped improve my net productivity over time, I would definitely take them!”
The report by WSJ cited a few instances where employees at Musk’s companies were worried over their CEO’s condition. At a SpaceX all-hands meeting, Musk arrived an our late and when he arrived, he was “strangely incomprehensible at times.” As per the report, Musk was slurring and “rambled for around 15 minutes”. It was SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell who stepped in and took over the meeting. The report also says that it wasn’t clear if Musk was “under the influence that day.” However, employees at SpaceX were worried about Musk being on drugs as they described the event as “nonsensical,” “unhinged” and “cringeworthy.”
Musk’s lawyer Alex Spiro told WSJ that the description of the SpaceX incident was “false as has been confirmed by countless people who were present.”
