What is the initial sight that catches your eye? Decode an optical illusion to discover if you possess an optimistic outlook or are a perpetual procrastinator.

A new optical illusion has emerged, supposedly claiming it determines whether you’re optimistic or a chronic procrastinator — depending on what animal you see at first glance.

Mia Yilin, from the US, has shared a now-viral TikTok video, suggesting that what you first decipher can help you discover insights into your personality.

There are two types of animals to look out for — a rabbit and a duck.

Duck

If you see the duck first, you are someone who seems “very optimistic” on the outside, although you’re actually more of a pessimist.

“Your emotions are quite unstable, and you can be happy one second but depressed the next,” Yilin explained.

“You’re usually a very forgiving and understanding person.

“But if someone violates your heart boundaries, then you will be extremely upset with them.”

Rabbit

If you see the rabbit first, you are a chronic procrastinator.

“If you don’t feel passionate about something, it’s very difficult for you to do it,” she said.

“But even if it is something that you take very seriously, it’s as if you physically cannot bring yourself to take action until the very last minute.

“Also, you’re very good at masking your emotions, and even when you’re having a complete mental breakdown on the inside, you can seem completely fine on the surface.”

‘Extremely accurate’

Her video has been viewed more than 8.8 million times, with many describing Yilin’s explanations as “accurate”.

“I am the definition of procrastination,” one said laughing.

Another suggested: “Duck description is so accurate.”

One revealed: “I saw the rabbit, and what she said (is) extremely accurate omg!”

Someone else joked: “I feel attacked right now… Why are you extremely accurate?”

But wait…

Meanwhile, some said they had difficulty seeing either the duck or the rabbit.

“I still can’t find the duck … I’m just looking at the rabbit – weird,” one said.

Another admitted: “Am I the only one who saw a bird?”

One confessed: “POV: You didn’t even notice there was a duck until she mentioned it.”

While another added: “I still can’t find the duck.”

Famous rabbit-duck illusion

The picture evokes the world-famous rabbit-duck illusion, which first appeared in a German magazine in 1892.

The drawing was later made famous by US psychologist Joseph Jastrow in 1899.

The image is said to show how quickly your brain works to determine how creative you are.
