The AutHer Awards 2024 Longlists in Fiction, Non-Fiction, Children’s Literature, and Debut were announced today (March 5, 2024) by a panel of eminent judges.The Times of India received more than 2000 entries which were submitted by both publishers and individual authors for the coveted national award, the first of its kind in India.
The AutHer Awards’ jury considered books by Indian women writers which were published in India between December 2022 and November 2023.

2. Non-Fiction: Vikas Swarup, Parvati Sharma, Upinder Singh
3. Children’s Literature: Preeti Vyas, Christopher Doyle, Kevin Missal
4. Debut: Tisca Chopra, Shipra Khanna, Nikesh Murali
The books under consideration went through multiple layers of screening before reaching the final jury.

AutHer Awards are the only literary awards for women writers in India or of Indian origin. They aim to put the spotlight on the diverse styles of writing across genres and categories.
“It is always a challenge whittling down this immense talent pool to a few select names for the longlist. The jury conversations that I have been privy to are a fascinating insight into literary craftsmanship, expectations of an author’s skill, their boldness to experiment, etc. Given that this is the information age, wherein AI is overtaking many conversations, especially those linked to writing; hence, it is particularly rewarding to recognise the fine art of writing, the human brain ticking creatively to churn out good stories. AutHer Awards 2024 celebrates these women storytellers!”
The AutHer Awards 2024 Shortlist will be announced on March 12, 2024.
The AutHer Awards winners will be announced at a grand ceremony in New Delhi on March 17, 2024 (Sunday). Cash prizes would be given to the top winners of all four categories and a Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to a woman author for her lasting contribution in the field of literature.
Apart from this, the AutHer Awards will also be given in two more categories: Popular Choice Awards based on people’s votes online, and Best Manuscript for young women writers to get their works published.
AutHer Awards was started in 2018 and since then it has seen four seasons of creativity and brilliance. The process of women AutHer Awards involves inviting entries of books published in the previous year. The entries are submitted by both publishers and authors. The entries go through multiple levels of screenings before it reaches the Jury.
