Woolworths also says that widespread deflation on fruit and vegetable prices means that some fresh produce is down as much as 40 per cent.

“As the weather warms up we know these are some of the products that customers are buying more of, so we want to help them spend less on these seasonal staples,” Woolworths Supermarkets Managing Director Natalie Davis said.

“We’ve included products that are perfect for the barbeque in our Prices Dropped and Low Price programs. There are price drops on sausages, chicken kebabs and chicken tenders, which can be paired with several salad kits that are available from $4, including the Woolworths Classic Coleslaw Kit.

“Summer is also a great time to enjoy our great Australian fresh produce and increase your intake of fresh fruit and veg for a healthier start to the new year. And with prices continuing to stay low, fresh fruit and veg are excellent quality and value right now.

“Our Woolworths own brand products also continue to offer delicious and affordable options for our customers, while thousands of weekly specials will continue to run.

“There are lots of ways to spend less and we know customers are looking for more specials and offers. We’ve seen strong customer demand to our recent Prices Dropped program including 20 per cent off all our standard lamb cuts, where customers bought 60 per cent more lamb chops and cutlets in the first week of the program.

“We encourage our customers to look for our catalogues and check out our specials online to find even more value in their shop. Customers can now also filter products online by best unit price, to add the best value into their shopping baskets.”
