Xbox users, Microsoft has ‘bad news’ for you

Microsoft has started implementing measures to prevent the use of “unauthorised” Xbox controllers and accessories on Xbox consoles. Gamers have noticed a warning message regarding the block, and some third-party Xbox controllers are now displaying an error message saying “connected accessory is not authorised” when connected to an Xbox console.
It’s worth noting that third-party Xbox controllers that are part of the “Designed for Xbox” hardware partner program are not affected. However, any controllers that have not been officially authorised by Microsoft may generate an error and be blocked from use. This could also result in third-party cheat devices such as XIM, Cronus Zen, and ReaSnow S1 being blocked from working on an Xbox console.
The reason behind Microsoft’s decision is unclear. It may be aimed at cheat devices or to promote its official partner program.
Some third-party Xbox controllers have been displaying an error message, along with a warning that the accessory will no longer be usable after two weeks. Microsoft has issued a support note stating that if error code 0x82d60002 appears when you connect an unauthorised accessory, you will have a two-week window to use the accessory on your console. After this period, you will receive error code 0x82d60003, and the accessory will no longer function with your console.
Microsoft recommends that you contact the store or manufacturer where you purchased the accessory for assistance with returning it.
According to a report by Windows Central, Microsoft is lifting restrictions on third-party hardware manufacturers to build wireless accessories for Xbox Series X|S devices. Previously, only headsets could receive approval via a special Microsoft security chip. Now, official third-party wireless controllers have an approval process, too.
