A young family from Australia living in Maui is facing the aftermath of a destructive wildfire that swept across the island. Nathalie Smith, her husband Matt, and their two children, Jacksen and Kai, have made their home in Maui for the past six years. They had recently moved into a new condo in Lahaina when they were forced to evacuate due to the blazing fires. Three major fires broke out on Tuesday night, isolating the western side of the island and Lahaina. Nathalie and her children found refuge with friends in a safe area, while Matt remains separated from them in another part of the island. Communication is difficult due to the lack of mobile phone reception. With the extent of the fires unknown, the family is unsure if their home and belongings were spared.
