While many people pronounce it “broccol-ee”, this shopper — who uses the handle @katelynn.youngg — said “broccol-eye” every time she referred to the vegetable.

The shopper’s video sparked a huge reaction, with many questioning her pronunciation of the produce item.

“Me thinking I’ve been saying it wrong, then I read the comments,” one said.

Another added: “Are you pronouncing broccoli like that as a joke? Genuinely curious.”

A third said: “Brock O Lai …. What just happened?”

One more added: “Another day being grateful that I don’t live in Queensland because otherwise I might say ‘broccolie’.”

Others said they were too distracted by the pronunciation to pay attention to the video.

“Can’t take you seriously when you say broccoli like that!” one social media user responded.

‘Brocco what?’

Another said: “Brocco WHAT?”

A third wrote: “I can’t with the broccoli pronunciation.”

One more said: “People, it is BROCK-O-LIE.”

The shopper took the comments in good humour, stunned that people thought she pronounced it incorrectly.

“I’m saying it normally,” she insisted, saying that “broccol-eye” is “how I say it.”

She added: “I’m not sure if it’s a common thing.”
