Maruti Suzuki India today finally launched the new Maruti Suzuki Swift in the Indian market. The new Swift in its fourth generation is essentially a heavily updated version of the third-gen platform with a new design, an all-new engine and an updated interior layout with new features.

The Bookings for the next-gen Swift is already underway. Interested customers can book the new Swift online or by visiting their nearest dealer.The booking amount is set at Rs 11,000 and deliveries are expected to begin soon. The new Swift continues to directly compete with the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tiago. In this article, let’s compare the price, engine specs and features of the new Swift with its rivals.
Let’s let’s talk about variants and pricing, The new Maruti Suzuki Swift is offered in five variants – LXi, VXi, ZXi, ZXi plus and ZXI Plus DT with prices ranging from Rs 6.49 lakh to 9.64 lakh (ex-showroom). Talking about the Grand i10, it’s offered in Era, Magna, Sportz, Corporate and Asta variants with prices ranging from 5.92 lakh to 8.6 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tiago gets XE, XM, XT, XZ and XZA plus with prices ranging from 5.65 lakh to 8.9 lakh (ex-showroom).

Talking about the dimensions, the Swift measures 3860 mm in length, 1735 mm in width, 1520 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2450 mm. The Grand i10 measures 3815 mm in length, 1680 mm in width, 1520 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2450 mm. The Tiago is 3765 mm in length, 1677 mm in width, 1537 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2400 mm.

Now comparing the engines, the new Swift is powered by an all-new Z-Series, 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine which puts out 82 hp of power and 112 nm of torque. Gearbox options include a 5-speed manual or an AMT. The new Swift has claimed fuel efficiency of 24.8 kmpl for the MT variants and 25.75 kmpl for AMT. As of now, the Swift is not available with CNG option.

The Grand i10 is powered by a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine which puts out 83 hp of power and 113 nm of torque. Gearbox options include a 5-speed manual or an AMT. The new Swift has claimed fuel efficiency of 20.7 kmpl for the MT variants and 20.1 kmpl for AMT. The Nios gets a factory-fitted CNG kit with the same 1.2-litre petrol engine which develops 69hp and 95.2Nm of torque. This is only offered with a 5-speed gearbox and has a claimed fuel efficiency of 27.3 km.

Similar to the Swift, the Tiago too is powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine which puts out 86 hp of power and 113 nm of torque. Gearbox options include a 5-speed manual or an AMT. The Tiago also gets a CNG variant with segment segment-first automatic gearbox. There’s also an EV version called Tiago.EV is available with two battery pack options.

Talking about the features, all three cars in this segment are packed with features. The Swift gets a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, connected car tech with over 40 features, Arkamys sound system, wireless charger, LED headlights, semi-digital cluster with 4.2 inch MID, rear AC vents, LED fog lamps, cruise control, auto climate control, push-button start/stop, steering-mounted controls, a rear camera, and power-adjustable and folding wing mirrors. Safety-wise, the Swift gets six airbags, ISOFIX anchors, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, hill start assist and ESC.

The Grand i10 Nios 8.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear AC vents, automatic climate control and a wireless charger, Type-C USB ports, steering-mounted controls, a rear camera, power-adjustable and folding wing mirrors, cruise control and automatic headlamps. Safety features include six airbags, ISOFIX anchorages, ESC, hill-hold assist and TPMS.

The Tiago gets a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Harman audio system, a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, drive modes, and electrically adjustable and foldable wing mirrors. Safety features include dual airbags, ABS, EBD, rear parking sensors, camera and more.
