In an interview with GQ, Babil revealed that his mother, despite having big dreams herself, chose to put them aside to help Irrfan achieve his goals. Babil sadly pointed out that Irrfan never gave his mother the credit she deserved for her unwavering support. He emphasized that Irrfan wouldn’t have been who he was without his mother. In a tragic twist, Sutapa never got the recognition she rightfully earned, even from Irrfan. He added that deciding to sacrifice her own dreams in order to watch her children and partner flourish might be heartbreaking and courageous for her, but she took that decision. He acknowledged the fact that he would have become nothing without his mother.
However, Babil shared that during Irrfan’s health battle with cancer, he finally acknowledged his wife’s monumental role in his success. Babil said that it was only after Irrfan’s sickness that he acknowledged the scale of her contribution towards his success.
