More than 1000 Ford Transit vehicles recalled over rear-view mirror defect

A recall notice has been issued for more than 1000 Ford vehicles over a defect which could cause serious injury or death.

A total of 1,559 Ford Transits manufactured between 2021 and 2023 are affected.

The vehicle’s rear-view camera may not display the rear-view image properly while the car is reversing, according to the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts.

“If the rear-view camera display does not continually display the rear-view image while reversing the vehicle it could increase the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to any persons located behind the vehicle,” the department said.

Ford will contact affected owners in writing, asking them to schedule an appointment at a Ford dealership for an inspection and repair, which will be done free of charge.
