New images of the upcoming Nissan Kicks show larger dimensions and refreshed design

The next generation of the Nissan Kicks has been highly anticipated, as the current model has been around for about six years. These spy photos provide our first glimpse of Nissan’s subcompact crossover SUV, featuring styling cues shared across the Nissan line and a slightly larger size.

The front end of the Kicks showcases a similar fascia to that of the Ariya EV and the Versa, with a wide, slatted smile encompassing the grille and headlights. This gives the front end a wider, rounder appearance compared to the current model.

The profile of the new Kicks appears curvier compared to the chunkier and angular design of the current model. It also appears slightly more upright towards the rear, giving it an overall larger appearance. Additionally, this prototype is equipped with stylish three-spoke alloy wheels.

At the rear, the rear spoiler section stands out more prominently, and the hatch features a pronounced deck section. The taillights seamlessly blend into this part of the hatch, possibly offering a full-width appearance that is better integrated than the current car.

We are eager to learn more about the mechanical specifications that are not visible in these photos. Unlike many other crossover SUVs, the current Kicks is only available with front-wheel drive. However, it is likely that the new Kicks will offer an all-wheel-drive option. It will be interesting to see if this new model continues with the current Kicks platform, which is shared with the Versa, or if it adopts something newer, like the Renault-Nissan CMF-B platform used by the Nissan Note and Juke. This newer platform could potentially enable the new Kicks to include Nissan’s e-Power series hybrid powertrains, providing the Kicks with a unique selling point in its segment.

A previous report has suggested that the new Kicks will be introduced next year, which seems reasonable considering the advanced stage of this prototype. We also anticipate that the pricing will be similar to that of the current Kicks, with a starting point just above $20,000.
