It all started with the announcement of Lok Sabha election dates in the country, the first film to kickstart postponement talk was Nag Ashwin’s Prabhas starrer Kalki 2898 AD.The film was slated to release on May 9, clashing with election dates of May 13 and the makers then decided to move the film to May 30 and now the talk has begun for June 20, which is also not confirmed.
Kalki 2898 AD release date has brought about two changes for Hindi films, one being the official postponement of Varun Dhawan’s Hindi remake of Theri, titled Baby John from May 31st to June or July. The makers insist that the film is being delayed because of pending production work and VFX schedule. The other change was Karan Johar backed project Mr and Mrs Mahi with Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor moving from April 19 to May 31.
Singham Again to SKIP
Another major change is the postponement of Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty’s film Singham 3. The film was clashing with Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2- The Rule. The cop drama has been delayed as the shooting took longer than expected and makers want to give the film enough time rather than rush to release on a pre-decided date. While talks are also on that Pushpa 2 might also miss the date as the shooting was delayed because of Arjun’s health concerns and post-production schedule. While producers want Rohit and Ajay to aim for Diwali that festive date is already eyed by Ram Charan and Kiara Advani’s Game Changer as well as Suirya and Bobby Deol’s Kanguva whereas Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has already announced Diwali as their release date.
Also release date of Ajay Devgn- Tabu- Neeraj Pandey’s film Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, which was first slated to release in April, moved its date to June and from there on also it has been pushed ahead.
