UP brothers’ Maruti Suzuki WagonR to helicopter modification seized by police

In an attention-grabbing incident from Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, two brothers are making headlines with their ambitious project: transforming a Maruti Suzuki WagonR into a helicopter. The hatchback was nearing completion and as per some posts, was enroute to get the final coat of painting done when the UP police saw it and confiscated the vehicle.
The brothers made significant modifications to their WagonR, including installing a rotor system on the roof and reshaping the rear to resemble a helicopter’s tail. While their efforts captured local attention, they also attracted the notice of authorities.

Before the project could reach completion, police stepped in, citing breaches of traffic regulations concerning unauthorized vehicle modifications. A video of the modified WagonR-copter parked inside the police station, shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), has garnered thousands of views and comments from netizens. Many applaud the innovative spirit of the duo, while others advocate for upholding the law.
As seen in the video, the brothers have used an old WagonR model and have modified it with the incorporation of a helicopter-like tail, and mast, hub, and rotor blades on the rooftop. In the current state, it appears highly unlikely that the vehicle will be capable of taking flight.
This incident sheds light on the innovative spirit often seen in India, where individuals use ‘jugaads’ for creating interesting modifications. However, it also underscores the importance of safety and adherence to the law.
