Watch: Ishan Kishan back at training after Rahul Dravid’s ‘domestic cricket’ message | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: The last few days have been challenging for wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan after not being selected for Afghanistan T20Is, with reports surfacing about his conduct during a break and apparently leaving the Indian team management and selectors dissatisfied.
However, chief coach Rahul Dravid made it clear, rubbishing the media reports, during the pre-match presser of the India-Afghanistan first T20 in Mohali, stating Ishan requested a break due to mental fatigue, which the team management approved.Dravid further informed that Ishan has not made himself available for selection since then and will return to domestic cricket when he feels ready.
“No, absolutely not (disciplinary issue). Ishan Kishan was not available for selection. Ishan requested a break, which we agreed on in South Africa. We supported it.
“He has made himself unavailable for selection. I am sure when he is available (for selection), he will play domestic cricket (and comeback). So that was the case,” Dravid told the reporters ahead of the first T20I.
Amid all the baseless rumours of misbehaviour, Ishan posted a video on social media platform ‘X’, formerly Twitter, on Friday to share a glimpse of his training session, where he can be seen doing meditation and fitness exercises on the field.

It will be a tough road ahead for Ishan to make a comeback, with T20 World Cup starting in June just after IPL, considering he played in only two ODIs and three T20Is between October last year and January, while India played a combined total of 14 ODIs and eight T20Is during this timeframe.
